It may be a bit of a rough day for WNBA star Brittney Griner as she's already facing allegations of racism against fan favorite Caitlin Clark. But an incident that took place during a WNBA game could land her into equally serious trouble with the league.
Moments before the conclusion of the Indiana Fever’s 81-76 victory over the Dream at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta on Thursday, cameras panned to Griner, who critics say labeled Clark “trash” before calling her a “f***ing white girl” in frustration over a foul on Natasha Howard.
The Mercury were losing to the Sparks as they took a 44-36 lead at halftime. Griner’s team fended off the Sparks with an 85-81 win. The incident took place as the WNBA season winds down.
