Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and Speaker Dustin Burrows created the Select Committees on Disaster Preparedness and Flooding, which will meet jointly. The Senate and House Select Committees on Disaster Preparedness and Flooding will meet jointly to hear invited testimony regarding: the states response to the July 4 flash flooding in Central and West Texas;

The first hearing of the committee will discuss the state’s response to the flooding, the state’s disaster preparedness more generally, flood planning and infrastructure.

The joint committee of state legislators assembled by Gov. Greg Abbott to address the flooding in the Hill Country and Central Texas is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, as part of the special session.
