Passengers will need a more secure license to fly anywhere in the United States and even to enter federal buildings.

Kristi Noem, the secretary of homeland security, said that travelers without a federally recognized document would face additional screening on Wednesday but would not be barred from flights.

Travelers who don’t yet have a new federally approved identification card should expect delays at the nation’s airports but will still be able to board domestic flights, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said.
