Syria's new President Ahmed al-Sharaa received an invitation from Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to take part in an emergency Arab League summit in Egypt on March 4, the Syrian presidency said in a statement on Sunday.

An extraordinary Arab League meeting on Gaza, initially set for next week, has been postponed to March 4, host Egypt said on Tuesday. The Egyptian foreign ministry said the new date was agreed with Arab League members as part of "substantive and logistical preparations" for the summit.

The Syrian presidency announced that Ahmed al-Sharaa, the country's interim president, was invited Sunday to attend an Arab League summit to be hosted by Egypt in Cairo.
