The American Academy of Pediatrics released its updated recommendations for vaccines on Tuesday, including Covid-19 shots for infants and young children – a break from the current US for Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations.

The AAP's new immunization guidelines prioritize COVID-19 vaccinations for young children, diverging from CDC recommendations while aligning on other vaccines.

The U.S. pediatric group, in its latest policy document, said all young children aged 6-23 months should receive a COVID-19 vaccine regardless of previous doses or SARS-CoV-2 infection, and recommended vaccination for older children in certain risk groups.
