The Leinenkugel family said they attempted to enter a non-disclosure agreement with Molson Coors in an effort to negotiate the acquisition of the Chippewa Falls Brewery.

The Leinenkugel Brewery in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, will permanently close its doors on Friday after more than 150 years in operation.

Dick and Jake Leinenkugel say the decision by Molson Coors to shutdown Leinenkugel’s brewery was unexpected and frustrating for the Leinenkugel family who have brewed locally since the company's inception in 1867.

The Leinenkugel family is trying to save the Chippewa Falls brewery, which is set to close this Friday. In a statement, Jake and Dick Leinenkugel say they submitted a proposal to Molson Coors to enter into a non-disclosure agreement,

The Leinenkugel family has indicated it is still interested in acquiring the Chippewa Falls brewery from Molson Coors, despite the latter having allegedly rejected these efforts. The US beer major announced plans to close the Chippewa Falls site in November. An additional facility in Milwaukee was also due to shut its doors.
