Dragon Age: The Veilguard a notable inclusion, given BioWare ’s game was only released in October 2024, although publisher EA has said it failed to meet sales expectations.

The inclusion of the recent Dragon Age: The Veilguard is an interesting choice, possibly spurred by the game falling short of EA’s sales projections and leading to mass layoffs within its developer BioWare, leaving the company with under 100 employees to develop the next Mass Effect.

Well, here's a surprise. Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be part of Sony's PlayStation Plus Essential Games for March. BioWare's big role-playing game only launched four months ago, so it's a surprise to see it included within the subscription service so soon.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be one of PlayStation Plus’ free monthly games for March 2025, and mere months after its launch, no less. Electronic Arts’ fantasy RPG, which began its troubled development all the way back in 2015, will now be available for all PlayStation Plus subscribers to redeem for no additional charge.

It’s not a great sign for the game, but at this point the commercial opinion of Dragon Age: The Veilguard has already been established, after EA slashed jobs at developer BioWare due to the failure of the game financially – 50% below sales expectations.
