John Torode has claimed that he didn’t hear from anyone at the BBC before the news broke that he was sacked from MasterChef. The chef and presenter of the cooking show was let go from the show following an allegation that he made a racist remark ‘sometime in 2018 or 2019.

BBC director-general Tim Davie believes MasterChef has a future with the broadcaster beyond 2028, when its current deal runs out, following the independent report into allegations of misconduct against Gregg Wallace.

It comes just days after Torode's former MasterChef co-host Gregg Wallace was sacked from the show. A report found that 45 out of 83 complaints about Wallace's behaviour were upheld following a review into his conduct - the upheld claims include one of unwelcome physical contact and three of being in a state of undress.
