An officer is in critical condition after he was shot while police were breaking up a large fight outside Overbrook High School in Philadelphia, Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel said Wednesday afternoon.

A rookie Philadelphia police officer was shot in the abdomen while responding to a fight near Overbrook High School on Wednesday afternoon.

At some point, Commissioner Bethel says an adult armed with a weapon gets involved in the school fight, and that's when one shot is fired.
