Philadelphia city workers' union votes to authorize strike

The DC33 Executive Board announced Thursday that of the 3,398 votes counted, an overwhelming 2,949 of its members voted to strike, while only 449 members voted against the strike.

The results announced Thursday showed 87% of workers voted in favor of the strike authorization. This does not mean workers are hitting the picket line, however. DC 33 says the vote simply gives union leaders the authority to call a strike at any time.
