With Martin Luther King day coming up, it’s a good time to take time to remember a man who’s words touched lives and changed minds. Martin Luther King Jr. was a baptist minister who played an important role in the American civil rights movement.

Martin Luther King, Jr. (January 15, 1929-April 4, 1968) was one of the most prominent leaders of America's Civil Rights Movement in the 1950s and 60s. His words and actions have left a lasting mark on America and the world as a whole,

King headed the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) and through his nonviolent marches and protests he helped pave the way to end legal segregation for Black Americans. His leadership and perseverance helped to create the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.
