John Cena's shocking heel turn is, without question, the biggest wrestling headline of 2025. The longtime hero of the WWE is finally playing the bad guy, and he will headline WrestleMania 41 against Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed Championship.

John Cena turned heel for the first time since the beginning of his 23-year WWE career, aligning with The Rock. He double-crossed Cody Rhodes after winning the men’s Elimination Chamber match to earn an Undisputed WWE championship match against the “American Nightmare” — whom he mentored in real life — at WrestleMania.

If nothing else, the last week has reminded WWE fans that they really can’t know everything in the plans before it happens.  Now, that same lesson applies in the wake of John Cena’s iconic heel turn to set up the WrestleMania 41 match with Cody Rhodes.
