The severe weather threat in the DC area is over. A few storms may pop up overnight into early Saturday morning.
Wednesday is a Severe Weather Alert Day. Rain will be around for both commutes, and it will be heavy at times on Wednesday. The initial burst of heavy rain will track through the Pittsburgh area between 4 AM and 9 AM. Then a brief lull around midday.
As of 6 a.m., according to Dominion Energy's power outage map, more than 38,000 customers are without power between several counties, including Alexandria, Arlington, and Fairfax. Pepco's outage map shows more than 17,000 customers are without power between D.C., Montgomery and Prince George's counties.
More rain is expected on Thursday, so have an umbrella ready. It won't be a washout, but scattered showers will dot the radar through the morning and afternoon.
Severe thunderstorms and tornado watches are in place on Tuesday, with 40 million Americans on alert for strong winds, large hail and flash flooding.
