H urricane Erin, now a Category 2 hurricane, has prompted a state of emergency in North Carolina and is expected to bring dangerous waves and rip currents to beaches along the East Coast. "To folks on the coast, now is the time to prepare," North Carolina Gov. Josh Stein warned on Tuesday.

RALEIGH, N.C. (WBTV) - North Carolina Gov. Josh Stein is speaking about the state of emergency ahead of Hurricane Erin on Wednesday morning. The press conference is expected to begin at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 20. A live stream of the briefing will be available in the video player above.

Forecasts indicated that Erin would have its greatest impact along the North Carolina coast on Thursday, Aug. 21.
