The Supreme Court seemed to lean Thursday toward upholding a law forcing Chinese parent company ByteDance to sell off TikTok, with all nine justices indicating national security concerns posed by the social media app outweighed potential threats to free speech.

The Supreme Court on Friday appeared likely to uphold a federal law that would effectively shut down TikTok in the United States in less than two weeks unless the popular video-sharing platform divests from Chinese ownership.

The court is hearing oral arguments on TikTok’s bid to block a law that would lead to its ban in the U.S. starting Jan. 19 if it isn’t sold by its Chinese owner.
