Hurricane Helene isn’t only expected to damage homes and vehicles; it has already resulted in at least 15 deaths and one injury, with more fatalities and injuries anticipated.

The storm spiraled through multiple states after making landfall late Thursday in Florida. Damages were extensive across hundreds of miles.

Among the desperate family members waiting for news was Francine Cavanaugh, who last talked to her sister as the storm was hitting Asheville.

Hurricane Helene caused dozens of deaths and billions of dollars of destruction across a wide swath of the southeastern U.S. as it raced through, and more than 3 million customers went into the weekend without any power and for some a continued threat of floods.
