The New York Mets have been busy this winter. They won the Juan Soto sweepstakes and gave the young outfielder a 15-year, $765 million contract. In addition to Soto, they have added several pitchers to their mix and clearly have their sights set on contending again in 2025 after their surprise run to the National League Championship Series.
"The Mets will retain Pete Alonso at a price at which they are comfortable or they will pivot, likely soon, to use Steve Cohen’s dollars in a different fashion," Sherman wrote. If the Mets are unable to sign Pete Alonso, they likely will pivot to one of two options, either Nolan Arenado or Alex Bregman.
