The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is pulling back $11.4 billion in funds allocated in response to Covid to state and community health departments.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will immediately end federal funding to California for COVID vaccination, surveillance and testing, California health officials said Wednesday. The funding had been awarded to state and local public health departments during the pandemic.

The CDC is terminating $11.4 billion in COVID-19-related funds for state and local public health departments. A U.S. Department of Health and Human Services a statement says the pandemic is over. Funds were largely used for testing and vaccination projects.
