A recently updated NFL uniform policy may mean increased appearances for the most beautiful throwback uniforms in the National Football League. Of course, I’m talking about the Miami Dolphins’ uniforms featuring a retro logo and letter/number scheme that hearkens back to the franchise’s debut jerseys from their inaugural season in 1966.

The NFL is listening to its fans, its teams and its players when it comes to uniforms. On Monday at the annual league meetings, the league informed NFL team owners that their clubs could wear their throwback or alternate jerseys up to four times in a 17-game regular season.

The NFL on Monday expanded the number of times that teams can wear alternate or throwback uniforms in a given season. The prior limit was three; the new maximum is four. Last year, the NFL increased the number of different helmets a team can wear in the same season to three.

NFL teams reportedly may have less advance notice when their games are going to be flexed from Sunday to Thursday following Monday's vote at the league meetings. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported league owners passed a resolution that will give the league the ability to flex games to Thursday Night Football with just 21 days' notice.

In a 26-6 vote, NFL owners agreed the flexing window for Thursday Night Football games will be reduced to 21 days.
