President Donald Trump said the implementation of proposed tariffs against Canada and Mexico would begin on March 4. A White House official confirmed to the Washington Examiner that an additional 10% flat tariff would be put into effect on Chinese goods on March 4.

Trump said illicit drugs are being smuggled into the United States at “unacceptable levels" and import taxes would force other countries to crack down.

The US president said, without evidence, that drugs are “pouring” into the US from Mexico and Canada and until that at least slows, tariffs will be imposed.
