Vermont food banks have been receiving news over the past week as employees have been given notice that much of their federal funding is being cut.

The Greater Cleveland Food Bank, along with many across the country, has been very concerned about sustainability in the food supply after the government proposed cuts in areas that canceled food deliveries planned for later this year.

The cuts also put an end to several programs like the Local Food Purchase Assistance Cooperative Agreement. The program helps pantries buy produce, seafood and meat from local farmers.
