Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano roared back to life and resumed its eruption Wednesday as dramatic video provided by the U.S. Geological Survey showed lava shooting hundreds of feet into the air.

The Hawaiian volcano Kīlauea resumed its spectacular eruption on 15 January 2025. Lava fountains are now active at two vents on the western side of its caldera, marking the start of the fourth episode of the ongoing eruption that began on 23 December 2024.
