Leavitt, 27, currently a spokesperson for Trump's transition, would be the youngest White House press secretary in history. Previously that distinction went to Ronald Ziegler, who was 29 when he took the position in 1969 in Richard Nixon's administration.

Leavitt will be the youngest person to ever hold the job and is expected to deliver press briefings based on Trump's statement late Friday that he has "utmost confidence she will excel at the podium."

There was no evidence of a Tucker Carlson appointment when the social media posts were made. Trump later named Karoline Leavitt to the position.
