The woman who was set on fire on the NYC subway has been identified as Debrina Kawam, of Toms River, New Jersey, police say.

Authorities have identified the woman who burned to death after she was set on fire inside a New York City subway train as 57-year-old Debrina Kawam. At a news conference, New York City Mayor Eric Adams said Kawam,

The police said a man was taken into custody. The victim had been seated in a subway car at the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue station on Sunday morning when a man set her on fire.
