Tony Mowbray will take charge of West Brom for the second time after being appointed head coach on a two-and-a-half-year contract.

Former title-winning boss Tony Mowbray has returned to Albion as head coach almost 16 years after he departed The Hawthorns.

Mowbray had a three-year spell at West Brom early in his management career and led the Baggies to the Championship title before his move to Celtic after relegation from the Premier League the following season. Now 61, Mowbray is in talks to replace Carlos Corberan at the Hawthorns, 16 years after his departure.

Mowbray stepped down at Birmingham City in February last year for medical treatment but has received the all-clear from medical staff and the League Managers’ Association to make his return. His return is certain to prove a popular decision with West Brom’s supporters, after three largely successful years in charge between 2006 and 2009.
