The first human case of West Nile virus in La Plata County was reported to the La Plata County Health Department in July, according to the county. Officials are reminding residents to take precautions to protect themselves from the virus commonly spread by infected mosquitoes.

BLOOMINGTON — A fourth mosquito pool in McLean County this year has tested positive for the presence of West Nile virus.  The positive test was confirmed Thursday in the 61701 ZIP code area, according to the McLean County Health Department.
