Authorities said Dr. Mirshojae was ambushed as he walked to his SUV parked outside his clinic located in Woodland Hills.

An armed suspect who exchanged gunfire with Los Angeles police officers at a Woodland Hills motel failed to come out and was found dead inside when a SWAT team made entry, authorities said. The shooting occurred about 10:15 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, at the Vantage Point Inn at Ventura Boulevard and Baza Avenue, LAPD Officer D. Orris said.

Arraignment was delayed Monday for three people charged in connection with the shooting death of a doctor outside his medical clinic in Woodland Hills in what authorities have described as a murder-for- hire.
