President-elect Donald Trump has chosen Chris Wright, a CEO of a fracking company, as his pick for secretary of the Department of Energy . Trump called Wright “a leading technologist and entrepreneur in Energy,” in a statement Nov. 17, noting that Wright has worked in nuclear, solar, geothermal, oil and gas industries.

Wright, chief executive of Denver-based fracking services provider Liberty Energy, “fits right into the Trump paradigm” for energy matters, said Miriam Grunstein, chief energy counsel at Brilliant Energy Consulting and a non-resident scholar at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy.

Chris Wright is Trump's pick to run the Energy Department. He is an oil and gas executive who must be more in tune with the green energy transition.
