COMMENTARY: Christ’s message could not be more at odds with the aims of secular society, which is to live an unencumbered life on the broad, open and inclusive way.

Or, as Jesus put it, to achieve bliss, we must “enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.” ...

This is the “narrow gate” we must pass through. It is just wide enough to admit our true selves, without guile or equivocation.

But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it” (vs. 13-14). The Lord lays out the choices confronting every person who ever lives in this world.
