CHICAGO -- Artyom Levshunov is expected to be sidelined another four weeks with a right foot injury, but the Chicago Blackhawks defenseman could start skating soon. Levshunov, the No. 2 pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, will be out another four weeks after injuring himself when he blocked a shot off his right foot while training in Florida on Sept. 11.

Chicago Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson announced that rookie Artyom Levshunov will miss the entire preseason with a lower-body injury and is expected to be out for four weeks.

The veteran forward said Thursday he's not worried about trying to "hold a candle" to Jonathan Toews, his predecessor. He also doesn't plan to change his leadership style from last season, before he held this title.

Veteran winger Nick Foligno was named the 35th captain in Chicago Blackhawks history on Wednesday. Foligno's three kids were in on the surprise as they delivered his new captain jersey. Foligno is the first Blackhawk to wear the "C" on his shoulder after legendary captain Jonathan Toews led the locker room from 2008 until 2023.
