Gareth Edwards was definitely the right director for Jurassic World: Rebirth. After Godzilla, the Star Wars prequel Rogue One, and his innovative little AI sci-fi adventure, Creator, he was ready to play in executive producer Steven Spielberg 's legendary dinosaur playground.

Jurassic World Rebirth takes place mainly on an isolated island, which serves as the only suitable place for the survival of the remaining dinosaurs.

That remains true in “Jurassic World Rebirth,” though at this point in the story, public interest in any dinosaurs has waned considerably. So, in the new film, there is simply an island near the equator where the remaining dinosaurs live — it’s literally the only place with a climate they can survive.

Jurassic World Rebirth picks up the most dubious thread from the first Jurassic World, and, to nobody's surprise, it falls just as flat as it did 10 years ago.
