The Texas House is moving quickly to approve a new congressional map that could flip as many as five Democratic seats to Republican control.

Texas House Democrat Nicole Collier spent the night at the state's Capitol, which she live streamed, after refusing to sign a pledge that she would return for a vote on redistricting. Her protest came after House Speaker Dustin Burrows announced that the Texas Democrats would not be allowed to leave the chambers until they signed a document promising to show up the following morning and that they would be forced to have police escorts back and forth.
The Texas Democrats failed in their effort to stop the Republicans from changing the Congressional maps in Texas, as Democrats in California attempt to also redraw their Congressional maps.
One Texas House representative is locked inside the House chambers after refusing to allow a Texas DPS officer to monitor her 24/7 outside of session meetings.
