When Williams takes on 11th-ranked Karolina Muchova on Monday night in Arthur Ashe Stadium, it will be her record-extending 25th appearance in the U.S. Open. It comes at the ripe age of 45, making her the oldest player to compete in singles at the U.S. Open since 47-year-old Renée Richards set the record in 1981.

Venus Williams says she is not getting bored of competing at the US Open, on the contrary, she finds it exciting more than ever. Nearly 30 years after her main draw debut at Flushing Meadows, the 45-year-old American is set to make her 25th appearance in New York.

Williams received a wild card to compete in New York. She returned to action in July at the DC Open, beating Peyton Stearns in the first round before losing to fifth-seeded Magdalena Fręch. She also made the trip to Southwestern Ohio, dropping her first-round match against Jessica Bouzas Maneiro in the Cincinnati Open.
