Aug 12, 2011 · We still have tons of Crown Vics running around and they don't have the push bars, nor do the newer Explorers, Suburbans, or Tauruses. I occasionally see them on Illinois State Police vehicles, but their duties probably involve some different things than a cop in downtown Chicago would see.

There have been a number of studies- Illinois State Police did the most detailed one back in the 80's- that show that slick top cars are involved in less crashes than cars with lightbars.

Jul 20, 2014 · It appears they are using the new Whelen Liberty. opo: Grey ISP Taruses are out of the Toll district, they have Whelen Legacy's. Back in April, ISP had a lot of Caprices sitting, waiting to be up fitted. ISP said they did not have enough people to installed equipment.

Aug 17, 2020 · Some of the cars with the new legacy bar have proper lighting pattern with steadyburns in the bar. Most cars now have at least one steady burn red light (so it will not flash, please don't report as it is not broken) And some much more added to these cars including handling lines have all been redone.

Oct 5, 2009 · I was driving back to school today 10/4/09 and can't believe what I saw. I was driving on I-55 near exit 260 around Bolingbrook, IL. (District 5 I believe) On the northbound shoulder was a Illinois State Police Caprice behind a Dodge Charger. The Dodge could've been an unmarked unit, not sure.
