Oct 20, 2006 · Now as for the Ripsaw, it is an excellent hardpack track as it is. However, if you ride hard, you're going to want studs to go with it (mainly due to braking and icy conditions.) 96 or 120 should do the job, or even 144 if you feel you need more. To make sure they don't rip out, get the double backers for all your studs.

I went with the grand masters due to the larger head and backer size to prevent tear outs. Yes the Ripsaw 2 is a 2ply but I rather have a larger head and backer for a 1ply track still.

Mar 17, 2023 · At one time Skidoo recommended Woody's Grandmaster studs for single ply tracks. The have a larger head and washer for single ply track application. I would not go any longer 1.325 if it is a 1.25 track. The longer the stud the more stress on the head and the more likely a pull out I would think. keysersoze.

Feb 27, 2015 · It was $700 to swap to the ripsaw 2 track or $600 to stud the stock track. I figure I'll run the ripsaw 1 studded this season and decide if I want to goto the rip2 1.5" next year. I'm coming off a 02 Mxz 700 with a .9" studded oem track so I think even with the "poor" reviews the ripsaw1 gets it'll still be way better then what I'm used too.

That was the deciding factor for me to keep my stock 1.25" ripsaw and stud it for the duration of my 3 year warranty. Then, 1.5" ripsaw 2 with 1.575 or 1.6 double backers every other bar with singles between.
