This beautiful Band-tailed Pigeon was found on a deck in a dazed state by some Wildlife Heroes. After a few days of observation in the clinic, it was well enough to be moved to the larger aviary. It slowly began to build up strength and take short flights. Eventually it could sustain longer flights and fly up to higher perches. After 24 days in our care, both wings appeared fully conditioned, which means it healed enough to be successfully released. 😍 Thank you rescuers, staff, volunteers, and

The Band-tailed Pigeon (BTPI) is a relatively large bird (14.6") w/ a purplish gray underside, deeper gray back, dark wingtips, a broad pale gray band at the tip of the tail, a yellow beak w/ a dark tip. With no sign of Jackie or Shadow, a whole group of band-tailed pigeons swooped in and decided the front porch branch was suddenly prime real estate. Nest is still home base… Gizmo decided to hang out on the Cactus Snag Wednesday morning, searching the area to check her options and evaluate where she wanted to head. Then she flew off to wherever called her curiosity. By mid-morning, Jackie brought a fish to the nest and waited for a while to see if anyone came to claim it.
