The first Sihek, aka Guam kingfisher, chick of 2025 has hatched at the Cincinnati Zoo! This is big news for a species that is listed as extinct in the wild. All 9 Guam Sihek brought from Wichita, Kansas to Palmyra Atoll are now living in the wild. This marks the first time sihek are flying in the wild since 1988. Over the weekend, 6 of the 9 were released. The release of the last three sihek was delayed due to weather.
