Berliners protest the construction of the Berlin Wall, 1961, with families gathering their belongings to flee to the West before the wall is completed. The clip also shows East German border guard Konrad Schumann jumping over barbed wire to the West. Construction of the wall began on the night of 12-13 August, when a wire barrier was set around West Berlin.
