This beautiful Torah ark once stood in the Shaarei Zion Synagogue on Orange Street in Chelsea, Massachusetts—not far from the MFA. An ornate cabinet that once housed Torah scrolls, it was created in the early 1920s by prolific Jewish woodcarver Samuel Katz, who was born in Veshnevets (modern Ukraine).
